1. ​​Government cancels arrangement of issuing isolation orders
The Government said that, following three years of COVID-19 epidemic in Hong Kong, with the ever evolvement of the virus and Omicron becoming the predominating variant, coupled with the enhancement of prevention and treatment capacities of the healthcare system and the handling capacity of society as a whole, the risk posed by COVID-19 to local public health has apparently altered. Considering the balance between infection risks and resumption of economic and livelihood impetus, the Government decided to cancel the arrangement of issuing isolation orders to infected persons according to the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation (Cap. 599A) from January 30.

2. Proof of nucleic acid test not required for young children aged 3 and below for entry into Mainland from Hong Kong
The Government announced that, upon communications with relevant Mainland authorities, young children aged 3 and below are no longer required to present proof of a negative result of a COVID-19 nucleic acid test conducted within 48 hours prior to their journey from Hong Kong to the Mainland.

3. Government fine-tunes mask-wearing requirements in certain premises
The Government announced that fine-tunings to mask-wearing requirements in certain premises will take effect from January 26 after taking into consideration the operational needs of these premises.

4. Government further extends outreach vaccination service special programme for residential care homes till mid-February
​​In a bid to keep strengthening the protection for residents of residential care homes (RCHs) for the elderly and persons with disabilities, the Government announced further extension of the outreach vaccination service special programme for RCHs for four weeks till mid-February.

5. Various holding centres to cease operation gradually
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) announced that all holding centres (HCs) established in sports centres as well as some in AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) gradually cease operation.
