1. Government suitably relaxes social distancing measures
As the epidemic situation in Hong Kong has substantially alleviated in a continuous manner since March, with various monitoring indicators showing a consistently downward trend in epidemic activity, the Government announced the first stage of adjustments to social distancing measures that will take effect on April 21, including allowing resumption of dinnertime dine-in services, re-opening of most previously closed premises, as well as updates on the restrictions on gatherings in public and private places, in response to the aspirations of citizens and various industry sectors for resuming normal activities as early as practicable.
2. Government announces arrangement to download recovery record QR code and implementation details of second stage of Vaccine Pass
The Government announced the arrangement to download the recovery record QR code for persons infected with COVID-19 (recovered persons), and implementation details in connection with the commencement of the second stage of Vaccine Pass vaccination requirements on April 30.
To facilitate the use of the Vaccine Pass by recovered persons, starting from today, they may download the recovery record QR code through the COVID-19 Electronic Vaccination and Testing Record System (www.evt.gov.hk). Recovered persons can also choose to download the recovery record QR code using "iAM Smart" or the latest version of "eHealth" mobile applications.
3. Online and phone registration for Home Vaccination Service starts on April 19
The Government launches a website (www.covidvaccine.gov.hk/hv/) and an enquiry hotline (5688 5234) for the Home Vaccination Service at 9am on April 19 for unvaccinated elderly persons aged 70 or above and persons with impaired mobility due to illness or physical disability to register for door-to-door Sinovac vaccination service via the website or by phone.
4. Commencement of next stage of COVID-19 vaccination at RCHEs and RCHDs
A Government spokesman said, "The second stage target of outreach vaccination for RCHs has been achieved. With efforts from various parties, the first dose vaccination rate at RCHs has risen from 55 per cent in mid-March to 70 per cent as at on April 14, with the rate at RCHEs standing at 67 per cent and the rate at RCHDs at 81 per cent. The overall vaccination rates for the second and third doses at RCHs are 42 per cent and 7 per cent respectively."
"Since many residents were infected with COVID-19 in March and later recovered, the Government will provide in the next stage of outreach vaccination service to unvaccinated RCH residents who have recovered from COVID-19, and those who are due to receive the next vaccine dose after their first or second doses, on or before May 10 so as to achieve a comprehensive vaccination coverage."
5. 59th round of compulsory testing for staff members of RCHEs, RCHDs and nursing homes to commence shortly
The Government announced that the 59th round of compulsory testing for staff members of residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs), residential care homes for persons with disabilities (RCHDs) and nursing homes will commence shortly.
