1. Government announces "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application arrangements in Cap. 599F premises and adjustment to catering business modes of operation

​​The Government announced the arrangements for using the "LeaveHomeSafe" (LHS) mobile application which take effect on December 9, in order to implement the earlier announcement on extending the requirement to use the LHS mobile application to all premises regulated under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F). The modes of operation of catering business will also be adjusted accordingly.

2. Government announces latest social distancing measures under Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance

​​The Government announced the gazettal of extension of existing social distancing measures for 14 days, which will take effect on December 9 till December 22. The Government is also considering extending the scope of "vaccine bubble" at suitable juncture in order to encourage more citizens to get vaccinated so as to strengthen Hong Kong's immune barrier against COVID-19.

3. Government tightens boarding and quarantine requirements for places with Omicron cases detected

​​​​In view of the latest global developments of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the places listed below will be specified as Group A specified places to tighten the boarding and quarantine requirements for relevant inbound travellers.

·        Maldives, Senegal and Tunisia from 0.00am on December 9
On the other hand, the Government maintain the specifications of Cook Islands and Luxembourg as Group B specified places.

4. Government updates list of places of recognised vaccination records

​​​The Government announced that it accepts the vaccination records issued by Georgia, Moldova, Serbia and Togo as recognised vaccination records for Hong Kong residents who have stayed in Group A specified places for boarding flights for Hong Kong. The relevant arrangements took effect at 0.00am on December 8 (Wednesday).

5. Government enhances monitoring on testing ability of private medical testing institutions

​​​The Department of Health (DH) said that it has enhanced its monitoring on the services provided by and the testing ability of private medical testing institutions carrying out COVID-19 nucleic acid tests, and the list of "Local COVID-19 RT-PCR testing institutions recognised by the Hong Kong SAR Government" (recognised testing institutions) has also been updated in view of the testing property of the Omicron mutant strain.
